Baidu Ecyclopedia Gaudi Challenge is the first global challenge that invites participants to develop new ideas and technologies following a human-centered design workshop inspired on Gaudi, Barcelona’s most famous architect.
Baidu Encyclopedia Digital Museum project is a large-scale corporate social responsibility project of Baidu Encyclopedia. It aims to cooperate with museums all over the world to allow users to enjoy all the exhibitions and to acquire knowledge more efficiently.
DESCRIPTION
The whole day of cutting-edge workshops and talks will explore Gaudi’s principles of creativity, originality, sustainability, and people-centered design. These unmissable workshops will also feature an innovative challenge for participants, to present their revolutionary proposals that unite the worlds of knowledge, new tech, and culture. World-class experts and mentors on Gaudi, AI, new technologies, design, and entrepreneurship, will be available throughout the not-to-be-missed event, to help striving participants shape their best proposals
The winning team
How might we create a shared knowledge platform accessible to everyone? This was the challenge that "Inspired by Culture" team set themselves to solve during Baidu Baike Gaudi Challenge. Their solution involved a mix between immersive experiences through high technology, interactivity and engagement with users and enhacing and making more accessible cultures and traditions.

Alyssa Li is a Graduate Student at UC Berkeley studying Human Computer Interaction, focusing on Virtual Reality and Tangible interfaces. She previously worked at BlackRock for 5 years.
Juliet Oberding is an Entrepreneur, Startup Founder and Mentor to women leaders in healthcare and technology. Formerly, a law professor and Intellectual property attorney, Juliet is passionate about the intersection between Healthcare, AI, Blockchain and Law.

Organised by Gaudi Inspired, together with Baidu Baike, the extraordinary session will give AI and design students, and entrepreneurs in the field, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to discover a different view of design, plus team values and business management, inspired by a universal genius.

Participants
The challenge has a theme of technology and museums, but anyone with a creative or business background can participate. The challenge is aimed at students in their last years of university, entrepreneurs who are looking for a project, or professionals who want to change their way of creating, thinking and learning.

Experts and mentors
Expert panels will be held during the workshops to inspire the participants to think out of the box and create exciting solutions; mentors will be present during the event to help with questions and doubts, as well as have fun with attendees!

There will be four main workshops throughout the event, which will take you from team and idea inception till testing out its first sprouts. We will follow natural design methodology, coming up with solutions in a way the nature creates trees- beautifully, functionally, ergonomically and sustainably.

- A chance to present their insights and projects developed during the Challenge to Mr. Chen Hechun (Head of Baidu Encyclopedia), Ms. RONG Wei (Baidu Brand Manager), Ms. Hepburn JIN (Director of Baidu Encyclopedia Digital Museums) and Baidu artificial intelligence scientists in the Baidu VIP Dinner on 28th of January.

Antoni Gaudi, the only architect with 7 projects declared World Heritage Sites by Unesco, is an iconic representation of Spain and its culture because of the values that he followed while designing and building his masterpieces. Gaudi was the first architect and engineer to have a vision that every product, building or service has to combine aspects such as functionality and beauty, economic sustainability and care for the environment, user experience and sensuality. As we can see today, his buildings built on these principles not only leave millions of people in awe every year but show that art and entrepreneurship can and should be combined in order to last through centuries.
